Supporting Technology Integration with Robotics

The MORIC Model Schools Team has been supporting Oriskany Central School District’s high school students in the Computer Applications class as they explored automation by programming Ozobots to simulate adaptive cruise control. Using Ozobot Blockly, they completed a partial script to make their bot detect another bot and automatically reduce speed. The elementary students have completed various projects. Students across grade levels have engaged in projects focused on integrating coding with literacy, programming bots to identify missing vowels in CVC words, creating tracks that utilized the full range of color codes, tackling an engineering challenge, and focusing on how the hardware interprets lines and color codes. The use of a single piece of STEAM equipment across all grade levels has created shared experiences tailored to multiple content areas and helped foster cohesion and engagement for students.
